Frequently Asked Questions
What would you like to know?
Still have questions? Feel free to reach out!
Do I really need therapy? I can usually handle my problems.
How do I know you are the right therapist for me?
I encourage you to check in with yourself and see if the fit feels right to you. Through this website and our initial contacts, you will get impressions of me and what it might be like to work together. At the end of our first session, I will ask you how it felt to meet and share with me. Trust your intuition as you decide whether or not to move forward. Therapy requires an investment of your time, energy, and money, so finding a therapist who is the right fit for you is important.
What can I expect at our first session?
My goal is to offer everyone a warm welcome and a safe space as we explore the possibility of working together. It is normal to feel nervous during the first session, but most people feel more relaxed as we get started. I will ask you to tell me about the reasons you are seeking psychotherapy and what outcomes you would like to experience. By the end of the first session, we will both decide if we are well matched and want to continue meeting.
How long does therapy last?
Length of treatment varies significantly depending on the nature of your concerns and your goals. Some problems can be treated in a relatively short amount of time (8-12 sessions), while others take more time. During our initial meetings, we will discuss your treatment needs and length of therapy.
What happens during a consultation?
We will talk about what you are looking for, if my practice is suited to meet your needs, fees and payment, and I am happy to answer any other questions. If you decide to move forward, we will schedule an appointment.
What services do you provide?
I offer couples therapy, individual therapy, and discernment counseling.
What forms of payments can I use?
I accept all major credit cards, as well as FSA and HSA cards.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations with less than 48 hours notice will be charged for the session. This fee is waived if the session is rescheduled within a week.
What is your privacy policy?
Privacy is absolutely crucial for therapy to be successful. Our sessions are confidential, but there are important exceptions allowed and required by law. We will review these in our first session. Click here to see the Notice of Privacy Practices.
